Arabic Foundation Program

 

 

Skills curriculum in the Arabic Foundation Program is built on a progression of educational competencies for learning the Arabic language. Students learn the language through sequential levels, allowing them to advance from the level that suits them to the final level, according to the following divisions:
At ages 3–4, children in this level begin recognizing the identity, sounds, and writing forms of Arabic letters. They will master 19 letters and start spelling three-letter words.
Children who join the program already knowing more than half of the letters will, through this level, learn to recognize and write all Arabic letters, in addition to spelling three-letter words.
Children who already know all Arabic letters will advance to mastering reading and writing words by learning the different forms of each letter according to its position in the word, enabling accurate writing.
At this stage, the child masters reading and writing three-letter words without long vowels and can correctly write dictated three-letter words.
The child becomes proficient in reading and writing words with short vowel sounds (ḥarakāt), analyzing words into syllables, and reconstructing them to form new words.
A key stage for mastering accurate word reading and writing, after learning to distinguish between short and long vowels and practicing sentence reading and formation.
This level focuses on strengthening the student’s ability to form sentences and read short paragraphs.
The student develops foundational skills in reading, writing, and forming simple sentences while applying several basic grammar rules.
This level aims to enhance fluent oral reading and coherent verbal expression.
Students learn to analyze a text, retell its events, and apply various linguistic concepts.
Students understand the content of age-appropriate texts and accurately write dictated paragraphs while applying acquired spelling and writing rules.
Students read paragraphs aloud with accuracy and learn to plan written texts (introduction, body, conclusion) as well as produce different types of written compositions.
This level focuses on teaching students how to correctly conjugate the past-tense verb with attached subject pronouns.
Students learn to express their needs and ideas using correct, coherent phrases while properly applying linguistic structures, grammar, and spelling rules.

This level aims to teach students how to properly use linguistic structures while observing grammatical rules and developing multiple language skills.
