1. About Skills

What is Skills?

Skills is an educational platform based in the Kingdom of Bahrain, specialized in teaching Arabic to children aged 3 to 14 through online learning. It offers live sessions with native Arabic-speaking teachers, an educational app, and a sensory learning kit shipped directly to the child, wherever they are.

Is Skills a trusted institution?

Yes. Skills is a legally registered institution with an official office in Bahrain, under the name Skills for Education (CR 9489101). It is licensed by various regulatory bodies, including the National Bureau for Revenue, the Social Insurance Organization, the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Tamkeen, the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Municipality, among others.

The Skills team consists of 10–15 members, including administrators, teachers, logistics, marketing, registration, and support staff.

2. Curriculum and Levels

What curriculum is used?

Skills has developed its own unique Arabic language curriculum for its Arabic Basics Program. Placement is based on the child’s skills and assessment results, not age or grade.

How many levels are there?

There are more than 15 levels.

How does teaching work?

 Learning is delivered through:

  • Live lessons via Zoom with a teacher.
  • Interactive and sensory activities in the learning kit.
  • Supplementary video lessons.
  • A parent dashboard through the app.

From what age can my child enroll?

 Children from 3 to 13 years can enroll. Levels are tailored to each age group’s needs.

Is there an assessment session?

Yes, Skills offers a free initial assessment via Zoom to determine the child’s exact level.

What is the right level for my child?

Lessons are divided into 9 levels based on age and skills. The best way is to book a free trial assessment, where the teacher evaluates your child live online.

Is the program suitable for non-Arabic speakers?

Yes. There are dedicated programs for non-native speakers, starting from the absolute basics, taught by professional teachers.

Can children with learning difficulties join?

Children with mild challenges such as difficulties in reading or writing can join. However, children with severe learning difficulties, or conditions that prevent them from engaging with the teacher, cannot be enrolled, to maintain the quality of the learning process.

What are the learning outcomes?

 Depending on the child’s level, the main outcomes include:

  • Learning Arabic letters: recognition, pronunciation, and writing.
  • Understanding letter shapes in different positions.
  • Reading and writing words with vowels and long sounds.
  • Forming simple sentences and paragraphs with correct spelling.
  • Oral and written expression.
  • Applying grammar and spelling rules.
  • Reading fluency, comprehension, and writing.
  • Tailored outcomes for non-native speakers.

3. Registration

How do I register my child?

  3. Choose the right course and level.

Steps to register in a Skills course:

  1. Free assessment session via Zoom.
  2. Choose schedule (morning/evening).
  3. Complete registration with a secure payment link.
  4. Receive the learning kit delivered to your doorstep worldwide.
  5. Start lessons 🎉.

Is there a trial session?

There is no trial lesson. However, the free assessment session allows the teacher to evaluate your child’s interaction and level.

What if I worry my child won’t focus online?

The assessment session also acts as a trial to test your child’s engagement. Many parents find their children adapt easily to interactive online learning.

4. Lessons & Materials

How is teaching conducted?

 Your child learns Arabic through:

  • Live Zoom lessons with a native teacher.
  • A sensory learning kit delivered home.
  • A smart app to organize content and lessons.

Are lessons live or recorded?

Live on Zoom, with teacher interaction.

What’s inside the learning kit?

 12 sets of resources per level: worksheets, booklets, and educational games.

What are class times?

 Classes run on:

  • Sat & Sun
  • Mon & Wed
  • Tue & Thu

From 10:00 am – 6:40 pm (Mecca time), depending on the level.

Lesson duration:

 40 minutes, twice a week.

Do parents need to attend?

 Recommended for the first lesson and for children under 7.

Are absences compensated?

 Missed classes are not rescheduled.

What do I need for lessons?

  • Computer/tablet/phone with camera & mic.
  • Internet connection.
  • Zoom installed.

5. Pricing & Subscriptions

What is the course fee?

The course includes:

  • A live assessment session.
  • 24 live Zoom classes.
  • Sensory learning kit shipped to your home.
  • Educational app content.
  • Final progress report.

 

💰 Fee: 220 BHD + shipping costs (varies by country).

Payment methods:

  • Website/app (credit card, Apple Pay).
  • Bank transfer or Benefit Pay (in Bahrain).

Discounts:

  • 10% discount for siblings.
  • Early bird offers announced on social media 3 months before a course.

Refund policy:

 Fees are non-refundable once registration is complete and the kit is shipped.

Is installment payment available?

 No, the kit is exclusively part of the course package.

6. Progress Tracking

How can I track my child’s progress?

Through the Skills app:

  • Progress reports.
  • Homework and activities.
  • Review of completed kit tasks.
  • Rewatching lessons.
  • Direct communication with the teacher.

8. Shipping

How is the kit shipped?

  • Via international couriers (DHL, SMSA, Aramex, etc.).

Are shipping fees included in the course?

  • No, shipping is added based on the destination country.

    • Bahrain: 220 BHD + 0 shipping = 241 BHD
      Kuwait: 180 KWD + 6.2 KWD = 186 KWD
    • Saudi Arabia: 2,188 SAR + 75 SAR = 2,263 SAR
    • Qatar: 2,125 QAR + 73 QAR = 2,198 QAR
    • UAE: 2,144 AED + 73 AED = 2,217 AED
    • USA/Canada: $584 + $45 = $627
    • Europe: €540 + €49 = €589
    • Other countries: $584 + shipping (check website).

Customs & clearance fees:

Any customs duties, local taxes, or clearance service fees charged by the destination country or courier are fully borne by the client. Skills is not responsible for paying or negotiating these fees.
